My First Duet “Love Yourself”

For the first time I have launched a song in which I share lead vocals with another singer: Nectaria from France.

The song is a dialogue about self-love between me and a creature in the mirror, a bit reminiscent of the Snow White fairytale.

I first wrote the lyrics as a dialogue between me and my mirror image, but that felt a bit narcissistic. So I asked my friend Nectaria to play the role of the mirror, and it’s so much better! We had a lot of fun recording the song and the music video!

I wrote the song when I was imprisoned at Berlin Airport for one night because of a judicial error. I knew I hadn’t committed any crime, but it still felt a bit scary to be in a prison cell. So the best thing I could do to keep a high spirit was to write a song about self-love.

This soul ballad is mostly driven by a piano played by Nicolás López Soto from Argentina, who also produced the song. It was recorded at Studio Constituyentes in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The music video was also shot in Playa del Carmen, with Luis Corona on camera and Nika Frolova directing.

Love Yourself is the fourth song of my latest album “Blow My Mind!” which contains 12 previously unreleased tracks. It is available as a vinyl LP, CD and 64 page full coloured book with lyrics, chords, artworks, liner notes and all songs as downloadable MP3s.
